Plastic Surgery:

Cutting Plastic Out of Your Life

Sunday, June 30 | 10am – 3pm

Please join the Sustainable Cleveland Plastic Reduction Working Group to learn more about the issue of plastic pollution and discuss ways to reduce your use of single use disposable plastics. Learn about simple and innovative everyday actions to lessen your dependency on single use plastics. Everyone, no matter what age, can take steps to make a difference.

During this conversation we will answer questions such as:

  • What can be recycled in Cuyahoga County and why does it keep changing?
  • What are some of the local initiatives around plastic pollution and how can we learn more?
  • Has Cuyahoga County banned plastic bags?
  • What role does plastic play in your life?
  • What resources are available to help me understand the issue of plastic pollution? How can my family and I get more involved?

The mission of the Sustainable Cleveland Plastic Reduction Working Group is to educate the residents of northeast Ohio about plastic marine debris, especially in our waterways and encourage them to take small, meaningful steps to reduce single-use plastics.

Members of the Working Group include Cuyahoga County Solid Waste District, Bay Village Green Team, Greater Cleveland Aquarium, Nature Center at Shaker Lakes, ODNR Old Woman Creek NERR, Ohio Sea Grant, Pennsylvania Sea Grant, Share the River, several concerned citizens of Northeast Ohio, and more.

This Common Ground conversation is one of three Plastic Surgery conversations being offered during Common Ground.

Plastic Surgery: Cutting Plastic Out of Your Life-West side will be hosted by Lakewood residents Jason Weiner and Kris Williams from 4-6pm at Distill Table and will focus on Reduce, Reuse, and Recycle.
